On this day in 1963, The Beatles second album With The Beatles became the first million-selling album by a group in the UK. The album stayed at the top of the charts for 21 weeks, displacing Please Please Me, so that The Beatles occupied the top spot for 51 consecutive weeks.
On this day in 1965, The final recording session for Rubber Soul by The Beatles took place at the ever so famous Abbey Road Studios in London.
They needed three new songs to finish up the album so ‘Wait’ was pulled and the group recorded two new songs from start to finish.
Paul McCartney’s “You Won’t See Me” and John Lennon’s “Girl,” the basic tracks for both songs being completed in two takes. Rubber Soul was completed, and finished copies of the album were in the record shops by December 3rd in the United Kingdom and December 6th in the United States.
